Conducte din tuburi ceramice în Colonia Dacica Sarmizegetusa

  • Subiect: The ceramic tubes represent a healthy, efficient and cheap solution for adduction or distribution of the water into a Roman town. Most often these materials could be found in the sewerage system's framework of a settlement. In some cases they were used as construction materials for the vaults of certain buildings. The interpretation problems appear when ill-assorted tubes come out, as it is the case with most of them in Sarmizegetusa. We cannot certainly say about those that are part from a water pipe or a building vault. Through their shape these tubes are like the wooden tubes or stone blocks, which are used for the same purpose: the water supply. On the other hand, in most of the known cases these materials proceed from sewerage. It is not right to turn into a common work technique an extraordinary one. But also we can't ignore it when we know that it exists.
