Spade medievale din colecţia Muzeului civilizaţiei dacice şi romane din Deva

  • Subiect: This article is intended to be a better analysis of two medieval swords which are in the Museum's collection. First, it has been proposed a later dating for them - the XVth century. Then, having access to a series of papers which directly refer to the evolution of the medieval swords, it has been tried a more exactly integration of them. The first one belongs to the type VIII, subtype b, the category G - blade for striking and thrusting, handle for one hand, guard variant I, button type B - in accordance with Z.K. Pinter's typology. Chronologically, it is placed between the last quarter of the XIIIth century and the first half of the XIVth. The second one belongs to the type XII, category I - blade for thrusting, handle for one and half hand, guard variant c, button type II - after Z.K. Pinter's typology. Chronologically, it is dated from the second half of the XIVth century to the beginning of the XVth.
