Revendicările românilor din Orăştie în perioada absolutistă

  • Subiect: The article presents the efforts of the Romanian delegation in Viena to accomplish the Romanian demands, in the period immediately following the revolution of 1848-1849. In their great majority, the petitions and the memorials handed to the emperor during the period 1849-1851, were asking for the right that the Romanians should undertake public functions in the goverment institutions. This situation concerned both the Romanians from Transilvania and those from Banat. To this effect the Banatians would bring their wish to the governor Coronini's knowledge in order to get the right to undertake public functions. A similar attitude was taken by the Romanians of Orăştie as a newly discovered document asserts. It is a petition adressed to the governor of Transilvania, Schwarzenberg, that requires the finding of a real solution for the engagement of the Romanians in public service, as a direct reflection of the demographical reality, the Romanians being the majoritary population. The demands would not get solutioned in spite of their insistence.
