Drumul roman Sarmizegetusa-Ostrov. Aspecte geo-topometrice

  • Subiect: The Roman road S-O belongs to the depression of Haţeg, but from the geomorphological point of view it belongs to the high Piedmonts’ Plain, which has in its basis a glacis with stairs. All the natural conditions especially the geomorphologic ones influenced the mapping out of the Roman road along the present direction. Along its length of 4,100 m, the road presents a medium slope of 0,73% and only five curves with a long radius which creates angles of 160 degrees. All these elements : reduced slope, few curves, long alignments, as well as the used building materials, permitted the Roman road to have a multiple destination, as well as its keeping up to date.
