  • Subiect: In the Romanian public opinion as well as in that of many other countries Petru Groza is better known and appreciated as the political man, the forerunner with progressive revolutionary views, the orator and humanist militant who possessed a wide political experience and a thorough training in the field of legal sciences and social governing. If this were all we retained from the Romanian militant's thinking and achievements it would be conclusive to say that he is not dead and will never be completely dead spiritually. Comrade Nicolae Ceauşescu, President of the Socialist Romania, attaching great value to the part played by Petru Groza in the political life of this country, stated more than a decade ago: “It is known the important role that Dr. Petru Groza played, for several decades, in the political life of Romania, both before the World War II, and in the post-war years. As a great and far-seeing personality, Petru Groza, the state man, the political man and the man of wisdom made an outstanding contribution”, estimates the President of our country, “to the strengthening of the alliance and unity of the working class and peasantry in their struggle against exploitation and oppression, for democratic rights and liberties; he also raised his voice firmly against fascism and war, militated with courage, alongside the most progressive forces, the popular masses organized and led by the Romanian Communist Party, for the overthrowing of the fascist dictatorship government and the liberation of the country, for the gaining by the Romanian people of the right to decide its own fate alone”. There is a tribute of gratefulness here, for Groza felt the revolutionary pulse of the depressed, followed it and devoted himself to it in the normal evolution of the oppressed towards justice, towards self-discovery and assertion.
