  • Subiect: Well acclimatized to the climatic and soil conditions, the Amur cork tree can become the main potential cork producing species in Romania. A research project conducted during the years 1983-1986 show its advantages in comparison with Quercus suber L. or Q. variabilis Bl. More than 1090 trees of this species were studied in old forest cultures, arboretums and parks in all the country, more than half of them already mature and able to supply at the moment first amounts of industrial native cork. In the frame of experiments, the technologies of planting stock production in nursery and the ecological requirements of the trees were specified.
