Implicaţii ecologice ale activităţii pastorale în Parcul Naţional Retezat

  • Subiect: Pastoral activity in the Retezat Mountains dates since old times and it started to manifest itself with more intensity only during the second half of the last century and then between 1930-1955 when the pastoral pressure was more stressed. Generally grazing did not have strong negative effects upon vegetation, the balances of the ecologic systems being submitted to some disturbances of a transient nature, so that nowadays the vegetation has almost restored the previous balance. The junipers (Pinus mugo) suffered more because some of the areas covered by them have been destroyed by fires in 1943 and in 1946 and others have been cleared in order to enlarge the pastoral areas. But clearings have been absolutely forbidden and the junipers are now protected. Nowadays the pastoral activity in the Retezat Mountains does no longer exert a destructive pressure upon the natural ecosystems and the protection of nature and this activity more accurately organized, together with touristic activity harmonize life in all its aspects on this mountain and biologic balance is kept.
