• Subiect: The layout and the development of the medieval construction work is not a very well known process, and that's way that is the subject of this essay. The Romanian historiography is poor concerning this matter, and only a few scholars reached the medieval building ground, its masters and the bond with the one's who commands the structure. After a brief study we can observe that this bond appears under different forms and aspects, being influenced by the type of community (urban or rural) and the statute of the one who commands. The relationship between the master and the commendatory is mediate by a third part (person or institution) that was in charge of the administrative layout. He represents the commendatory wishes and is controlling the eventual emergencies. The superintendent of the building ground is the builder, who imagines the shape of the building. He also hires the rest of the crew: the masons, the carpenters, the blacksmiths and the hacks. After gathering the facts, we can reconstruct a gothic building ground. We know that the materials were brought before the beginning of the work. The tract begun at the beginning of the summer and was ending at the of October, for a completed hardest of the mortar. The materials were transformed with the help of a large variety of instruments, beginning with the bush hammer, the hacker and the chisel, the chip axe and the auger, to the more complex instruments such as the ones used to elevate the walls: the scaffold, the bender and the pulley.
