Spaţiul mioritic în pictura românească

  • Subiect: Romanian painters chose, consciously or not, to use a specific vision of space, the so-called "mioritic" space (a notion of a "waved" type of space describing the typical Romanian landscape of hills and valleys), long before and long after the concept was created by Romanian philosopher Lucian Blaga, who is the author of a consistent theory on Romanian style in arts and culture. It can be argued that the choice for waved space, seen as "heavenly" ("gură de rai"), is a distinctive characteristic of the Romanian painting school, one of the ways to identify a painting as a Romanian one being the specific waved line. The thesis of the article is exemplified by the works of many Romanian painters.
