Restaurarea unui vas de provizii roman

  • Subiect: The Roman camp Cigmău is situated between Bobâlna and Geoagiu, in county of Hunedoara. The archeological campaign 2001, which had as a purpose the classification of the stratigraphy and the planimetry of the construction that revealed numerous archeological remains among them, a large Roman provisions pot. Its restoration was performed after detailed analysis, considering its importance and the context in which it was discovered. In the first stage, the ceramic fragments underwent a wet cleaning, then anionic detergent cleaning, followed by chemical treatment with complex solution EDTA. After complete neutralization the component parts were assembled using aracet without plasticizer. We reached the conclusion that the pot is 66 cm high and its maximum circumference is 158 cm. The completion of missing parts was performed using dental plaster, the walls having previously been consolidated with stainless steel rod. Finally, we proceeded to finishing and remaking the background. We recommend the storage and display of the object to be done in optimal conditions of humidity and temperature.
