O punte între trecut şi actualitate: Stema mitropollitului Andrei baron de Şaguna

  • Subiect: The Orthodox Metropolitan (bishop) of Transylvania, Andrei Saguna was bestowed as a baron under the title, style and name of Andrei Baron of Saguna. The personal coat of arms, which he received with that occasion, consisted in a shield charged with vigilance (a crane which holds a small stone in one of its legs). The personal charges were, later on, combined which those of his dignity. Such being the case, the main shield was divided into four parts (quartered}. One of the quarters consists on the personal insignia, another one is charged with a church, the following with a cross, and the last one has, as a central component, the sun. The coat of arms of the Metropolitan Andrei Baron of Şaguna can be seen as a bridge between past and present. The crane, which is the main element of the vigilance, in the personal arms, as well as in that of dignity, touches the soil with one of its legs. But the soil consisted on seven hills or Siebenburgen - Seven Hills [Towers] in German - in another words, Transylvania. With such a historical background, Siebenburgen has to be found in the currently Romanian provincial heraldry.
