Monede romane imperiale descoperite în necropola de la Alba Iulia – „Dealul Furcilor”

  • Subiect: This study is aimed to present the Roman coins discovered during the archaeological rescue excavations from 2008 in Alba Iulia – Dealul Furcilor, Izvorului Street. The presented coins are rare and less known, some of them having original variants of the legend. A large number of coins was found in Alba Iulia in the last years of archaeological campaigns, but unfortunately a very small number was published until now. These coins were found in a tomb and in the nearby area of it, and their numismatic value is indisputable. Among the two silver studied coins, there are other three from bronze and a third one from silvered bronze. The distribution of coins, following the emperors reign, is the following: Lucius Verus (1 piece), Septimius Severus (1 piece), Severus Alexander (3 pieces) and Severus Alexander and Julia Mamaea (1 piece).
