Organizare ecleziastică şi implicaţii bizantine în Transilvania în secolul al XIV-lea şi la începutul secolului al XV-lea

  • Subiect: In the 14th century and in the first half of the 15th century the evolution of the Orthodox Church in Transylvania was influenced by the measures taken by the Pope and the Hungarian royalty against the Orthodox faith. In the 14th century in Transylvania is attested only one hierarch, Archbishop Ghelasie from Râmeţ (1377). The connections of the Orthodox Church from Transylvania with the Ecumenical Patriarchate from Constantinople are confirmed by the fact that between 1381 and after 1401, the Metropolitan Bishop of Ungrovlahia was also „exarch of all the Hungarian part and of the region”. In the 15th century an intense ecclesiastical life is certified in Maramureş. In August 1391, at the request of Princes Baliţă and Dragoş, the Monastery St. Michael from Peri was raised to the rank of stauropegic monastery.
