  • Subiect: Before and then after Romania’s entering the Second World War, local authorities of Hunedoara county, realizing the importance of the ways of communication crossing the county, took steps for enhancing the bridges, repairing the roads and ensuring the railroads. This work required allotting supplementary funds from the budget and also the training of the necessary labour force. This way, instead of the men who had left for the front, Jews were used within the forced labour established by the authorities. Jews’ forced labour also knew some abuses but humanitarian attitudes too.
