O reconsiderare a planului Coloniei Dacica Sarmizegetusa

  • Subiect: Over time it has been much discussion on the beginnings of the Roman Sarmizegetusa. Thus, under the old theories have defined two major currents. First who pleads for a military camp after the first Dacian-Roman War, and after which was leaving by the soldiers its will develop an urban community, only that the camp had a stone phase. And the second ones that the city has existed from the beginning, but troops that contributed to its construction were stationed in a different location. The contribution of the present article is that after it sketched archaeological situation at the moment and were interpreted the data known to date, were obtained conclusions that found the middle way between theories mentioned above. Respectively, there was a military camp, but that functioned only in the first timber phase, early settlers were placed in the second wooden phase in between military installations abandoned by the military and the city was built in stone from the very beginning, with the rectangular plan known. In no case we cannot speak of an extension of the city of stone to the west, as long as there is no trace of removing the first stone enclosure on that side. For the time being, the situation of the moment certify a stone enclosure constructed from the beginning with dimensions of 520 × 620 m, where the stone forum overlap wooden principia, so that will not become the centre of the rectangle with the dimensions shown above.
