O cană de propagandă din Primul Război Mondial aflată în Colecţia de Istorie Modernă a Muzeului Civilizaţiei Dacice şi Romane

  • Subiect: From the beginning of World War One, both sides of the conflict used propaganda to shape opinion using a wide range of cartoons, posters, leaflets and other different items. Recruitment was a central theme of domestic propaganda, the most common theme although was patriotism. Among the most famous of the posters used by the British Army recruitment campaign were the “Lord Kitchener Wants you” posters. Mugs and embroided handkerchiefs are among everyday items, used in World War One propaganda. In this case we have a propaganda mug, made in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, belonging to the Romanian Modern History collection of the Museum of Roman and Dacian Civilisation. The propaganda mug shows through heraldry and symbols a strong bond between the two allies of Central Powers Alliance, Germany and Austro-Hungary.
