Patriarhul Justinian Marina între „salvator” şi „conformist” în Biserica Ortodoxă Română

  • Subiect: The imposing, on the 6th of March 1945, of Petru Groza’s government meant the establishment of the communist regime. Groza’s government inaugurated, through its internal policy, the suppression of democratic rights and freedoms and the control of all activity areas of the society. In this context, the Church became the last impediment for imposing the Soviet model. The one whose job was of administrating the Romanian Orthodox Church in the first three decades after the instauration of communism was the Patriarch Justinian Marina. He thought that the Romanian Orthodox Church didn’t have the instruments to oppose the communist regime so he adapted the strategy of false adhesion to the values of the communist system and this gave the possibility of ensuring the Church's autonomy reported to the political power. Based on these assumptions we can say that Justinian Marina realised a spiritual resistance, so that the Church kept its role which is that of morally and spiritually educating the Romanian Christians.
