Începuturile muzeului arheologic din Piatra-Neamţ

  • Subiect: The paper deals with the setting up and the development of the Archaeological Museum from Piatra Neamţ. After showing the preoccupation for the archaeological researches and for the collection of ancient vestiges in Moldavia, it presents the setting up of the first museum in Piatra Neamţ- "Cozla County Museum", in 1920. It must be underlined the activity of professor M. Stamatin, the headmaster of "Petru Rareş Secondary School" who initiated and organized this museum. We can speak about a real museum, only after the setting up of the "County Archaeological Museum from Piatra Neamţ". Though it is dated in 1934, the first archaeological researches are dated in 1935 when the first discoveries are exhibited in two show cases. We think that beginning with the year 1938 the activity of the museum knows a certain development, that's why we consider the museum was set up that year. The setting up and the organization of the museum is due to the intellectual patriot Constantin Matasă, the first director of the museum. In 1947 the museum of Piatra Neamţ becomes a state museum, its development getting an ever growing extension.
