Un tezaur de monede medievale târzii de la Rediu, com. Bâra, jud. Neamţ

  • Subiect: During the autumn of 1999, a late medieval hoard consisting of 153 silver coins was discovered some 200 m westward from the orthodox church of the village of Rediu. The silver coins, with a total weight of 3.470 kilos, were restored in the laboratory of the History Museum from Piatra-Neamţ, where they are preserved, too. The hoard consists of several types of coins issued between 1745-1774 by Leopold I, Francisc I, Maria Theresa (Roman-German Empire), Mustafa III, Abdul-Hamid I (Ottoman Empire) and by the city of Ragusa. This discovery presented above brings an interesting update to the research of the monetary circulation of the 18th century.
