  • Subiect: In this article the author presents some documents relating to the early period of the ,,History and Ethnography Museum of Târgu Neamţ”. In 1957, when there were reached 500 years since Stephen's the Great coronation, in Târgu Neamţ were established two museums: „The Fortress of Neamţ Museum” and „Ştefan cel Mare” District Museum of Târgu Neamţ. Professor Dumitru Constantinescu was the organizer of both these museums, but after a short time, they were closed. In 1958, both museums were brought together and have formed „Ştefan cel Mare” District Museum of Târgu Neamţ. The museum had a mixed profile: history, archaeology, ethnography, natural sciences. In 1977, the museum was moved in its present location, within the historical monument. The theme of the permanent exhibition reflects the historical evolution of the local society, starting with the oldest times and coming to nowadays, portraying also some of the traditional trades from this region.
