Donaţia Societăţii de Istorie a Medicinei şi Farmaciei din Roman

  • Subiect: The medical life is part of the history of the town of Roman. The donation received by the History Museum of Roman, in February 2010, from the Society of the History of Medicine and Pharmacy of Roman contains an exceptional collection of history of medicine. The donation contains various documents, administrative or medical ones, diplomas and PhD papers, prescriptions, photographs, notes and personal effects belonging to the doctors from Roman, letters, treaties of medicine, medical and surgical instruments, kits for different specialties (ophthalmology, obstetrics – gynaecology, surgery), physiotherapy, respiratory and electrotherapy equipment, but also instruments used by pharmacists, wood, ceramic, glass or porcelain recipients, metal and marble mortars, druggist's balances, phials and medicine boxes. All of them cover a great area of specialties, illustrating at the same time the evolution of the medical and pharmaceutical life in the town of Roman, starting with the emergence of the first institutionalized form of medical assistance until present time. The collection also emphasizes the role of the important medicine personalities in the history of the town of Roman. "The father" of this collection, Doctor Epifanie Cozărescu, has his well-deserved place in this gallery of representative figures of the medicine of the town of Roman and in the studies of history of medicine at a national level. The exhibit "In memoriam dr. Epifanie Cozărescu" from the History Museum of Roman, displayed with the help of this donation, presents more than two centuries of history of medicine and pharmacy.
