Investigaţii non-intruzive la Poduri - Dealul Ghindaru

  • Subiect: In 2011 geophysical investigation were conducted at Poduri, covering an area of about 3.7 hectares in the western part of the site. Several magnetic anomalies were revealed providing important details about the organization of the space within the investigated site. We noticed the density of the dwelling complexes westward of the central space of the site (which is considered to be the highest area, where excavations were located) and their orderly arrangement. Also, a linear anomaly was revealed, interpreted as a possible road, which provides another clue of the site’s planimetry. Another aspect worth highlighting regards the defence system. From the beginning of the archaeological researches we believed that the settlement was closed by a moat, which barred access from the terrace. The magnetometric investigations showed a complex system of several moats existed for the demarcation and protection of the living space – whilst the construction order and phases are still to be established. The surface of the site appears to be around three hectares. Keeping into account that half of the terrace is estimated to have collapsed during time, it appears that the Chalcolithic settlement spread over six hectares. The non - intrusive investigations also certified the shape of the Bronze Age complex which we supposed to be part of an initially round ditch structure.
