Constantin Mătasă şi casa naţională "Regina Maria" din Piatra Neamţ

  • Subiect: This article aims to retrace, based upon several unpublished documentary sources the activity of the “Regina Maria” National House from Piatra Neamţ, along it’s more than 28 years of existence. Branch of the National Houses Headquarter (established in Bucureşti, in June 1919 on the initiative of the General I. Manolescu and of the university professor Gheorghe Ţiţeica), the institution from Piatra Neamţ has undisputedly contributed to both cultural and spiritual rebirth of the population from our town. The foundation of the “Regina Maria” National House from Piatra Neamţ, is to be attributed to the Priest Constantin Matasă, the one who ensured continuity and value to the events carried out through the institution (prominent representatives of culture as well as renowned scholars arrived in Piatra Neamţ at the priest invitation). We have identified two distinct phases in the development of the activity of the “Regina Maria” National House: on a first phase, during 1919-1934, the activity consisted mainly in organizing cultural-religious bees and popular dances, whilst from 1934 it become as first priority the enrichment of the prehistoric collection of the Regional Archaeological Museum, founded by the Priest Constantin Matasă, within the headquarters of the “Regina Maria” National House from Piatra Neamţ.
