Tezaurul de denari romani imperiali de la Puriceni (com. Borleşti, jud. Neamţ)

  • Subiect: From a historical point of view, we asked the natural questions concerning the date of the burying of the hoard from Puriceni, which was the reason and who was the owner of this monetary deposit. To answer, it is necessary to stop a little more on the beginning and the end of the process of amassment of our hoard, as well as on the source of the coins the hoard consists of. We must admit that these hoards represent the amassing deposits, which were constituted in a devalorization period and which were buried long time after their constitution. That is why the causes which led to their burying can't be numismatically reflected by these hoards. Then, perhaps, the hoard from Puriceni was also finished during the years of Septimius Severus' monetary reform, the reform being the principal cause of its forming. We can't conclude, without underlining that the hoard from Puriceni, which is the greatest hoard of Roman imperial coins of Moldavia - discovered and published until now - reflects almost the whole numismatic and historical problems for all these hoards in all their complexity and diversity.
