Vârfuri de lance gumelniţene descoperite la Glina

  • Subiect: Within the framework of the archaeological diggings done on the Glina's "tell", among the silex objects there were also found two spear heads, one of them unbroken, and the other one in fragments. The raw material is made up of Balcanic silex. The entire spear head, which has a length of 9.3 cm and the maximum width of 4 cm, bas two grooves placed almost symmetrically. Spear heads of this kind, or of almost similar type were also found in other places belonging to the Gumelniţa culture, as well as to other eneolithic cultures, or to the Bronze Age. The objects represent an achievement of a local "master" and were used as weapons for hunting or in the intertribal conflicts.
