Principalele rezultate ale cercetărilor arheologice din aşezarea de la Davideni (sec. V-VII e.n.)

  • Subiect: In the settlement of Davideni (Ţibucani commune, Neamţ county) the archaeological researches were made between 1970-1977. This settlement of the 5th-7th centuries A.D. is situated on the right border of the Moldavia river, on the lower terrace, in the point called La Izvoare - Spieşti ... All the 21 dwellings discovered up to now are of the type of those partly deepened in the earth dugouts (fig. 2/1-2) and, especially, semi-dugouts (fig. 1 / 1,4). The area of these dwellings varies from 9.90 m2 (the dwelling L9) to 23.75 m2 (the dwelling L l6). In some dwellings there were discovered pits of the pillars which were supporting the walls and the roofs. All dwellings had installations for the fire, consisting of common fireplaces of stones, ovens of stones and ovens of sparing clay. Ovens of sparing clay for baking bread were also found outside the dwellings, in their proximity (fig. 3). In the settlement of Davideni a rich and varied inventory was found. The inventory consists, especially, of pottery. The pottery discovered at Davideni includes two great categories: a) pottery worked by hand and b) pottery worked by wheel. The first category is predominant in all archaeological complexes and in the whole pottery. Jars and pans were worked by hand. Some pottery forms worked by hand can be attributed to the ancient Slavs. The most of the pottery worked by hand, as well as all the pottery worked by wheel is autochthonous.
