Spada de bronz de la Piatra Şoimului

  • Subiect: This article introduces a fortuitous discovery of a bronze sword, which took place in December 2006 at Piatra Şoimului (Neamţ County). The place of discovery, situated between the river Calu and Dealul Horodiştea, upon one of the low terraces of the nearby river, is located close to the well-known settlement from Horodiştea-Piatra Şoimului, inhabited during the Chalcolithic, the Bronze Age, the First and Second Iron Ages. The sword itself can be attributed to the Oradea variant of the Apa-type swords, type which is linked to the Hajdúsámson-Apa-Ighiel-Zajta horizon. The closest typological analogies are represented by one of the sword from Apa, the piece found at Oradea, the one from the small deposit from Téglás (Hungary) and the recently found item from Obcina/Topcino (Transcarpatian Ukraine). Within the East Carpathians area, this item has most probably been employed by a Costişa community, to whom several other bronze artefacts from Hajdúsámson horizon are also attributed.
