Amfore şi vin comercial la Cnidos şi Sinope: două cetăţi, două mari, ce vinuri!

  • Subiect: The production of amphoras in ancient Greece is not to miss when talking about wine. The wine is one of the main products imported or exported in ancient times and it had represented even since in Homeric age one of the fundamental elements of commercial exchanges far away from different states in the Mediterranean area and those of the Black Sea. Our main purpose is about identification of the amphora content whose changes were destined for the thousands of Hellenistic stamped amphoras from Cnidos and Sinope. Numerous scientists are tempted to write a history of the commercial amphoras without taking into consideration the written testimonies, which contain some very important clues. Cnidos and Sinope are two production centres of amphoras which had been built for a long period of time due to stamps on the handle of amphora, and the surroundings of these antic sites represented the reason for many archaeological excavations. These facilitated the localization of many production unit of amphoras, due to whom the two poleis were able to assure the marine transport of different sorts of goods, especially wine for Cnidos as the ancient authors assert.
