Câteva documente inedite referitoare la situl arheologic Cetăţuia de la Stoicani (judeţul Galaţi)

  • Subiect: In this short intervention the author, after a brief presentation of the archaeological site „Cetăţuia” of Stoicani (Folteşti commune, Galaţi County), the main stages of the researches that took place there and the most important discoveries, he introduce five new documents that speak about the preservation status of the site. First of them is a paper of Mircea Petrescu-Dîmboviţa, dated in 18 May 1953, in which he points out the fact that the extension of the local, modern cemetery make that the tombs being carved in the archaeological site. The second one is an official address from the Minister of Culture to the Archdiocese of Lower Danube who actually introduces the paper of Mircea Petrescu-Dîmboviţa. Then it follow the official address of the Archdiocese to the Congregation of Stoicani in which is stated the recommendation to find a new place for the cemetery. It seems that this guidance was listened, therefore in 28 March 1958 on an inspection that was performed on the Congregation of Stoicani it is mentioned the old and the new cemetery. Finally, the last document is also a paper of Mircea Petrescu-Dîmboviţa dated in 1984 in which – without expressing the real motif (it was reopened the old cemetery ?!) – the state that he maintains his opinion from 1953.
