Restaurarea Coroanei Regale din satul Galeşu, comuna Poarta Albă, jud Constanţa, care astfel a sugerat analogia cu coroana reginei Nefertiti

  • Subiect: Summary: Among the pieces displayed at the Exhibition of Ancient Romanian Treasures held at Petit Palais in Paris, 1970, there was one named "the muff'. This much wrinkled, quasi-tubular object, dating from the end of the Geto-Dacian bronze era, made out of thin natural gold foii having a thickness of under 0,5 mm, was restored prior to being exhibited. A special technique, first used at the Roman-German Museum in Mainz, Gennany, was adopted, in order to avoid stretching the thin gold foii. After restoration, the "muff' tumed to be in fact a crown having the base narrower than the top and the cylindrical walls curved towards the inside. The simple and slender shape achieved after restoration could fit easily both a child and an adult head. This was the first royal crown from the GetoDacian bronze era found on the Romanian territory, being the oldest discovered so far in the Romanian history. This particular crown was first published in the Gold Treasures in Romania catalogue which mentions a second royal crown, found also at Galeşu, which means that the crowns belonged to a royal family. Until now, the ancient Romanian crowns have no known similarity other that with the crown of the Egyptian queen Nefertiti, depicted on the painted limestone bust dated 1350 B.C. and exhibited in the Egyptian Museum in Berlin, Gennany.
