Cercetări privind granulele de rocă (gastroliţi) din stomacul fazanului (Phasianus Colchicus)

  • Subiect: Between 1977 and 2007 we made a research upon the gastrolites from the pheasant muscular stomach. As a result of the research made upon the 7 Samples, we have established that the weight of the granules varies very much between 0,11 grams and 3,97 grams and the number of gastrolites varies between 9 and 180 pieces. The pheasant prefers very hard granules (quartz, granite) up to 100%. After a checking out we discovered that and the open colored gastrolities are preferred in proportion of 50 up to 90% (transparent, milky white, pink, yellow), and dark or black gastrolities in proportion of 85% (proof 4). Inside the stomach the gastrolites represent 2-32% of the total weight of the gastric composition. Taking into consideration the diameter of the granules the pheasant prefers the percentages in connection with the dimensions are the following: 2-3 mm, 42,31%; 3-4 mm, 26,23%; 1-2 mm, 13,26%; 4-5 mm, 11%; 5-6 mm, 2,40%; 0-1mm, 0,7%; 6-7mm, 0,56%; 7-8mm ,8-9mm, 9-10mm, 0,14%. We consider that these granules proceed from the sand and the gravel on the banks of the main rivers in the Maramuresh Depression, or from the gravel used to make the surface of the country roads.
