Scurta analiză a situaţiei populaţiei de urs în judeţul Covasna

  • Subiect: One of the most important area from Romania related to the distribution of the Brown bear is Covasna County. The high density of brown bears in this area shows an efficient management, who is developed on the local hunting traditions. Any management plan for any species, is based on a quantitative analysis, in this context the Covasna County is in a strange situation because here were officially identified the highest density of brown bears from Romania. Because the numbers are sometimes exaggerated by hunters, I consider that the identification of another characteristic, other than the number of the bears, is much more important for the management of bear in Covasna and Romania. The Relationship between bears and other large carnivores, the distribution of males and females, the age structure are at this point much more use full indicators to establish the conservation status. Not in the last place is necessary to have a very good evaluation on damages and accidents in which bears and human are involved, because the cohabitation is very important for the bear management.
