Un celt de tip transilvănean descoperit la Cotumba (com. Agăş, Jud. Bacău)

  • Subiect: Abstract :The locality Cotumba is along the Trotuş Valley, in the northwest art ofthe Bacău country. In 2012 we were notified of the existence of a socketed axe of Transylvanian type. The information we subsequently received revealed that the "tem had been found on a terraces of hill Grohotiş. The bronze socketed axe is slender and bas a straight lip with thickened rim. A slightly raised loop springs from the moulding and is attached to the torch. The sides are straight and the cutting edge slightly widened. lts profile is hexagonal. The bronze socketed axe was cast in a bivalved mould and its surface is slightly uneven. The body of axe, the blade aria, bears ancient striation and cutting marks due to use. It lacks the patina. Dimensions : Lenght = 93 mm, width = 46 mm, weight = 230 g. From a typological point of view, the socketed axe from Cotumba can be subsumed under the type B, subtype B4, Eastem Transylvanian version of the socketed axe in Mirecea Rusu's clasification of the Transylvanian socketed axe, or type Ruginoasa, after V.A. Dergecev, and may be dated in Reinecke's Br. D- Ha A.
