  • Subiect: The present study is an observational, descriptive and retrospective one dealing with the totality of child births within the Cluj District in 2003 analyzed from the database of „the medical certificate proof of a live child birth”. This analyze confirmed the male and urban location child birth overate. Most of the live newly-born were native Romanian followed by Hungarian and gipsy ethnic groups. More than 3 in every 4 are born from legal marriages. The percentage of the prematurely born children and with a small birth weight is down, most of the deliveries were properly located in special health facilities and properly assisted by the gynecologist and midwife. The proportion of the multiple live child birth at a single delivery is also low. The study is showing with great accuracy, the transition of the maximum specific fertility pattern on age groups, to the 25-34 years age group and towards the urban area, but nevertheless, we have to look also the percentages of live birth rates among the young mothers – between 10 and 14 years old – most of them in some rural areas, or the percentages in the 40 years old and over age group.
