Parcul Central din Băile-Govora, judeţul Vâlcea (Scurt istoric)

  • Subiect: This article presents The Central Park from Băile Govora, Vâlcea. This park covers an area of 20.5 hectares; it emerged at the end of the 19th century, and represented the cure of the Govora resort. At the beginning of the 20th century it was arranged by the French architect A. Pinard. Govora’s park includes an architectural ensemble made of several hotels: the most important are „Palace hotel”, which is considered to be the „emblem” of the Govora resort, the „Physiotherapy Institute”, the „Power station”, the cinema, the „Ferdinand spring” and the ,,Terrace with angels”; it also has monuments built for important figures, that contributed to the founding and development of the Govora resort: I.C. Brătianu’s statue, doctor Nicolae Popescu Zorileanu, and doctor Haralambie Botescu. The buildings are architectural monuments which reunite the styles: baroque, classic, renaissance with the Romanian classical style. Even today the park is a large tourist attraction.
