Cercetări arheologice preventive la biserica "Sfîntul Nicolae", oraş Berbeşti, sat Valea Mare, judeţul Vîlcea

  • Subiect: „Saint Nicholas” church in Berbeşti town, Valea Mare village, hamlet Izvoru, was proposed for removal because of the extension of the works of mining exploitation in Panga quarry. The church was built from the ground in 1818, by Andrei Popa, rebuilt in 1863 by Andrei Roşescu and others. In 1922 it was plastered and painted in oil by the painter Victor Fulgescu from Costeşti. The foundation has as technical construction the dig where there have been fixed shaped limestone rocks and stones from the river. The depth of the foundations is -0,20-0,30 m, and the height of the socket is 0,50-1,00 m from ground level. The archaeological material discovered among the various materials inside the church: a brass spoon decorated with floral incisions. The church has been moved to a new location in Berbeşti and retains its original appearance.
