Noi date despre biserica bolniţă "Adormirea Maicii Domnului" a Episcopiei Rîmnicului

  • Subiect: Beginning with the 18th century in the Romanian area it started to be built, beside the big monasteries, infirmary churches after a model met in the Orthodox Balcanic area, which generally are situated outside the monasteries walls, conceived to officiate the divine services for the sick or old monks, but particularly for burial services of defunct monks. The infirmary church “Assumption of the Virgin” situated in the precincts of Râmnic Bishopric to the north-west of the big church was founded by the bishop Climent in 1745, in Romanian architectural style, specific to the 18th century and has a rectangular plan, being partitioned in altar, nave, pronaos and open church porch without cupolas. The painting in fresco in Byzantine style was performed by Priest Gheorghe and Deacon Badia between 1747-1748, good connoisseurs of the profession as it is shown by the style's accuracy, the concentrated order of the pictorial registers, the chromatic and the themes of images. The infirmary church “Assumption of the Virgin” of Râmnicu Vâlcea Bishopric is a valuable religious architectural monument that enriches the Vâlcean and national cultural heritage, beside of other big monasteries and hermitages from Vâlcea area.
