Relaţia OM-ARBORE în cultura orală tradiţională

  • Subiect: Almost all of the oral traditional creations contain plenty of images and symbols of wood. Their presence in oral literature is not at all accidental. The wood or the tree, in various hypostases, orders life, the universe, micro and macrocosms, is a bridge relating the earth and the sky. In every traditional culture, all over the world, from the ancient times, there is an organic relation between man and wood as a living material, between man and the tree which doubles his life. This organic relation is reflected in wonderful and full of meanings literary images. These images arise from the spiritual senses that governed the traditional world. The comparative study of these symbols and images should contribute to the consolidation of a contemporary perspective about the traditional mentalities ensemble connected by the relationship between man and wood, man and tree. This organic relationship between man and wood as a primordial material is met not only in oral literature but also in the traditional craftsmen testimonies, the planting, the harvest and the processing of wood being followed by old rituals, respected religiously along the time. Most of that, wood or trees are one by one substitutes of human being in passing rituals, as more well-known oral literary testimonies shows us very often.
