Problema evreiască în dezbaterile parlamentare între anii 1866-1871

  • Subiect: One of the most important issues discussed by the Parliament of Romania between 1866 - 1871 was that of the rights of aliens linked to non – Christians. Article 7 of the Romanian Constitution states: „only citizens of Christian rite can get Romanian citizenship”. This has generated heated debate both domestically and internationally; the domestic fight was given between the radical liberals represented by I.C. Brătianu and conservatives represented by P.P. Carp. Internationally, Brătianu’s measures dissatisfied the consuls of United Kingdom, France, Prussia and Russia. These were poorly informed or did not want to accept the fact that Romania tried to become an independent state. The problem was not solved then and continued to preoccupy the politicians of Romania.
