Introducere în arheotopografie, o subdisciplină arheologică necesară

  • Subiect: Archaeotopography, the field of research proposed by us, deals with the analysis of topographic methods and instruments that precede the emergence of the trigonometry and of the theodolite. Chronologically, this is circumscribed to Prehistory and Antiquity, with some reminiscences until the 18th century. It is a profoundly interdisciplinary field, implying the correlation of information and notions from topography, archaeology, linguistics, ethnography, engineering, architecture, etc. The results of analyses of this type can contribute to a better understanding of the means to make some constructions and other engineering works that necessitated topographic measurements and also to the demolition of unrealistic theories, such as the megalithic yard. Our paper has an introductory character, and presents the problematic and introduces a methodology for a field of research that must become a component part (sub-discipline) of archaeology.
