Noi consideraţii privind prezenţa bizantină la Dunărea de Jos între sfârşitul secolului al VII-lea şi începutul secolului al X-lea

  • Subiect: The situation of the territories from the Lower Danube between the end of the 7th century and the beginning of the 10th century is subjected to the Bulgarian-Byzantine relations. Their political-judicial status it is not exactly known only for short periods of time. Between the end of the 7th century and the 8th century, or in certain periods from this time frame, the Byzantine Empire exerted its domination upon some regions from the Lower Danube. Most likely, it stretched until the Danube’s mouths area, as well as to some urban centers situated on the seaside (Constanta, Mangalia) or situated on the Danube (Dorostolon or Noviodunum). The second half of the 9th century consecrates, without any doubt, a Byzantine domination at Danube’s mouths. Now, here functioned Thema Lykostomion or the Archontate of Lykostomion.
