  • Subiect: Stove Tiles with Heraldic Motifs The restoration work carried out at Curtea de Arges Monastery during the second half of the 19th century, as well as archeological studies performed at Arges and Târgovişte Royal Courts during the 20th century, and at Bucharest Old Court in the beginning of this century revealed stove tiles decorated with the passer-by griffon or two rampant lions. Both griffons and rampant lions are common symbolic motifs used in Romanian medieval heraldry during the 17th century.
