Premisele dezvoltării navigaţiei în condiţiile formării şi consolidării statelor medievale româneşti

  • Subiect: „The article presents the beginnings of the development of navigation tied to some events that occurred during the 141h century, when great princes such as Mircea cel Bătrân and Petru Muşat managed to extend their rule to the Great Sea. In the conditions of the formation and the consolidation of the Romanian medieval states navigation means and ports served quite often for military purposes in the fights for independence and the defensive wars. In most cases the naval means used for expeditions on the right side of the Danube were large groups of dugout canoes. Sources indicate the continuity of navigation on the internai rivers as well during the early part of the Romanian middle ages. Narratives, charts of the Dobrudjan seaside, the 1309 map made by Giovanni di Carigano give a rather accurate description of the Black Sea and the Danube river basin.”
