Aspecte privind conservarea textilelor de mătase - metode clasice şi experimentări actuale

  • Subiect: Considering the fundamental principles of conservation and restoration - 'Primum non nocere' and the respect for authenticity and integrity of the heritage object - the paper presents a comparative analysis of issues concerning the classical conservation methods and some current experiments that use high-frequency cald plasma for cleaning silk textiles included in the category of heritage objects. Research has been conducted on textile samples naturally aged, similar to textile heritage objects from the point of view of the degradation. In the first part of the paper is presented a summary report for information concerning the classical cleaning treatments of textile heritage objects and the modern treatments using cold plasma technology applied in the textile finishing industry for the modification of textiles sur/ace in order to improve certain characteristics pertaining to the day-to-day functionality of these textiles. In the second part are the results of experiments that have shown that the textile samples naturally aged, treated by the high-frequency cald plasma, have undertaken the degradation of surface and bulk properties of textile fibers as is clearly superior to the new textile materials, in the finishing processes. Also, research has highlighted the fact that the treatment by plasma has not achieved an optimal cleaning of treated materials and textile specific characteristics have not been improved. Evaluation of the results obtained through the application of these methods was done in this study through the research of silk filaments by electron microscopy and by measuring crystalline degree.
