Monumental: Elemente arhitectonice şi inventar din cadrul sanctuarelor neolitice şi eneolitice din Europa

  • Subiect: „In all civilizations are monumental statues. In general there are representing the image of gods, characters from different religious pantheon, leaders, heroes or ancestors. The term „monumental” is used in several science fields, like architecture, archaeology and art history to describe oversized objects or buildings and temples, palaces and shrines. The adjective „monumental” refers to buildings or features build up by the collective effort of many people. Temple 2 from Parţa is one worship building which was largely and detailed described. The most spectacular object discovered in Temple 2 is the double monumental statue placed on a pedestal. For the time being the statue is a unique discovery in the Neolithic of Romania and the earliest discovery of this kind in Europe. Double monumental statue presents a divine couple and it consists of two very important characters for European Neolithic religion in general: the Great Mother Goddess and Bull God. These two images are some of the most powerful in the Mediterranean, Anatolian and Balkan areas. Starting our analysis from this statue we sought other examples of monumental statues, with emphasis on the worship buildings documented in Neolithic Europe. There were found several examples from all over Neolithic cultures, made of stone and clay. Elements associated with statues are very important and reveals predetermined arrangements in communitarian places, as well as the beginning of a true naology.”
