Circulaţia monedelor cufice în Moldova (sec.VIII-X)

  • Subiect: „The number of hoards from this period is extremely small, only five treasures, three with Arab coins and two with Byzantine coins, see the coins from Cleja, Bacău County and Călăraşi. On the other hand, starting with the end of 8th century and until the 10th century, several Arab coins grouped in three hoards are discovered, at Răducăneni, Echimăuţi, and Alcedar and six isolated coins from four locations: Alcedar (2), Bosia (2), Iacobeni, and Şcheia (Iaşi County). In total, there are 37 coins, of which 31 in hoards and 6 are isolated coins, 33 made by silver and 3 made by copper. The presence of these coins in the space between the Carpathians and the Dniester River within a period monetized so little, is extremely difficult to interpret but in this article we will try to see how these coins integrates within the international flow and if, at the same time, represents trade or something else. We think there is a possibility to link these coins with a presumed prestatal formation which is situated in the area of the Moldavian Plateau, corresponding to the Dridu culture.”
