Aşezarea Sântana de Mureş-Cerneachov de la Tecuci, punctul "La plopi"

  • Subiect: „The archaeological site „La Plopi (At the poplar trees)”, from Tecuci, was spotted and investigated in 2012, as a result of the operations of archaeological diagnosis pertaining to the urban project „The construction of the bypass route, Tecuci, km 0+000 - 6+950”. The research carried in 2012 covered a digging area of 300 x 12 m, where one cendrier and 174 dwelling complexes were spotted. Among these complexes, there were 5 houses, 3 fireplaces, 165 pits and a ritualic establishment built from large river stones; they belong to the Bronze Age (Noua civilization), the early Hallstatt, the IV-th century AD (Sântana de Mureş-Cerneachov civilization) and to the Modern Age. The dwelling complexes belonging to the Migration Period were generally spotted in the Eastern part of the site, only one of them being found in its Western side. The investigations unearthed 8 such complexes: one house, one fireplace and 6 pits. These dwelling complexes pertaining to the Migration Period, discovered in the archaeological site „La Plopi (At the poplar trees)”, might have belonged to a settlement possibly related to the biritual necropolis discovered in 1971 at the point „Metal casing factory”, which lays 500 m NE from the Eastern end of „La Plopi (At the poplar trees)” site. 225”
