Evoluţia şcolii în fosta comună Şarânga, judeţul Buzău (1832-1946)

  • Subiect: The evolution of schooling in the former Şarânga commune, Buzău county (1832-1946) The evolution of schooling in Şarânga commune was decisively influenced by the official legislation of Wallachia, starting with the School Regulation enacted by Prince Alexandru Ghica in 1833. The incipient period of this learning institution was marked by numerous problems, mainly due to missing qualified teachers and missing educational facilities, which were put up rather for compliance with the law. The official documentation showed that the people of Şarânga commune wished to have an organized functional school, since there was a core group of front-rank villagers always interested in making repairs to the school. The moment's situation was described as confronted with missing elementary teaching materials, the interruption of courses for various periods of time due to conflicts or to some parents' lack of interest in the educational process. The documents speak of the schools existing in the villages of Şarânga, Clondiru de Sus, Dara, Câlţeşti in the period of 1832 to 1946. An analysis of such documents points out the evolution of this place in demographic, cultural, social and even economic terms, not rarely positive, but also the negative aspects of this rural area. The displayed reports reveal one of the big problems with the Romanian schooling, namely nonattendance, the main cause being the parents' wish to assure their children 's help with the agricultural chores. Generally speaking, apart from many issues unresolved, the evolution of schooling has been positive and one can say that school has been the major cultural hub of the commune.
