Bătălia de la Râmnicu Sărat în viziunea generalului Erich von Falkenhayn, comandantul Armatei a IX-a germane

  • Subiect: The battle of Râmnicu Sărat viewed by general Erich von Falkenhayn, commander of the 9th German army In the years immediately following the end of the First World War, historians, military historians, former combatants, literates and publicists bent with particular interest on this historical event, resulting in a rich historiography. The memoir books, as components of this bibliography, play an important role, especially when written by people who played a leading role in the development of those events. Regarding the description and the analysis of the military actions carried out on the territory of Romania, between 1916-1919, besides the national literature of the war, an indispensable source of inspiration is also the enemy's literature. This is very rich, both in general and in detail. In particular, the German armies were accompanied by numerous war correspondents, who described not only the military operations, but also the picturesque part of the war, noting impressions of all sorts that they could collect. Their descriptions are generally hostile to us, as it is easy to understand. In this context the memoir book entitled „The 9th Army Campaign against the Romanians and Russians 1916/17", signed by Erich v. Falkenhayn, „Infantry General, Chief of the German General Staff: September 1914 - August 1916; Commander of the 9th Army: August 1916 - May 1917", published in 1921, in Berlin, under the aegis of „E. S. Mittler & Sohn", and translated into Romanian in 1937.
