Subiect: A few data regarding the historiography of the discoveries from Cucuteni-Băiceni (Jassy)
Passing in review the historiography of the archaeological discoveries of Cucuteni-Băiceni, the author dwells upon the research undertaken here by the German archaeologist H. Schmidt in the years 1909-1910. The moment is extremely important as H. Schmidt is the one who made the first modern digging at Cucuteni, discovering the stratigraphy, the typology and chronology of the polichromotic pottery.
Regarding the archaeological material used by the German archaeologist in elaborating the monography Cucuteni in den oberen Moldau, there are known quite a few things. From an address of the Prefecture of Jassy (annex 1 ) we learn about the quantities of objects sent to Berlin after the convention between the University of Jassy and the Museum of Ethnography from Berlin. To this is added the approach made by the German Embassy (annex 2) to be lent to tlw Museum of Berlin some archaeological pieces (also acldingthe list of these pieces) in order to widen the researches towards a systematization suggested by H. Schmidt.
